The Musée de la civilisation (the Museum) is issuing a call for proposals to professional heritage, cultural, artistic and tourism promoters for the historical, heritage and architectural enhancement of Place-Royale, located in the heart of the Old Québec heritage site inscribed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people come to soak up the atmosphere of this exceptional jewel.
Funding for this call for proposals comes from the Place-Royale Enhancement and Animation Fund. In October 2021, the Government of Québec asked the Musée de la civilisation to administer the Place-Royale Enhancement and Animation Fund, for the implementation of innovative animation and interpretation projects, with a dedicated grant of $2.2M.
With this call for proposals, the Museum wishes to associate itself with bold and avant-garde projects that aim to modernize approaches to enhancing and revitalizing Place-Royale, while respecting the unique characteristics of the site and the quality of life of the citizens who live there year-round.
The total budget allocated to this call for proposals is $1.5 million. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of the already rich history of this heritage site and to do something for the community.
