Since the end of April, the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, is experiencing a climate disaster of major proportions, with thousands of people homeless. The community of undergraduate and graduated students in History at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) was directly affected.
Several people lost their homes, invaded by water, and are living an extremely vulnerable situation. Many are homeless, separated from their families. Furniture, domestic appliances, books, and computers were lost in the flood.
Thinking about the urgent support for these students, UFRGS History Community (professors, technicians, and students) decided to create a fundraising campaign in order to help them to go ahead with their studies and not to be forced to leave the university.
The amount raised will be fully invested in actions to help History students most affected by the tragedy, and its application will be controlled by a management committee with representation of professors, students, and administrative technicians.
Be supportive! The future of history is at stake. Help the community of History students face this tragedy! We will be always grateful.
