Call for Applications: Editor - CANADIAN JOURNAL OF HISTORY

The Canadian Journal of History/Annales canadiennes d’histoire (CJH/ACH) is seeking candidates for the position of Editor. The first issue under the direction of this editor is expected to be Volume 55, Number 1 (April 2020). CJH/ACH is a peer-reviewed journal of general history publishing in both English and French. Geared to all professional historians, as well as to everyone interested in historical scholarship, it features articles and reviews by experts, and invites contributions from all areas of history. The journal has resisted the trend toward increased specialization and offers an excellent way to keep up with developments across the discipline. Role and Responsibilities
The Editor is responsible for determining editorial direction of the journal including the development of the editorial team and board. He or she is committed to ensuring the journal maintains its high standard of publishing by actively searching for authors, obtaining new submissions, and working directly with authors until manuscripts are submitted. The Editor must also edit manuscripts, coordinate with the publisher on copyediting, and proofread each issue prior to publication.

Qualifications Successful applicants will possess and demonstrate the following qualifications:
A strategic vision for the continued strength and growth of the journal and a commitment to its success
A broad network within the history community
Research excellence in scholarly contributions and other relevant activities within the field
Experience as an editor, associate editor, or editorial board member of an indexed journal
Strong communication and leadership skills

Application Process
Interested individuals should prepare and submit an application via email that includes the following:
A vision statement (1–2 pages) that provides a vision for CJH/ACH under your leadership. Items to address may include:
The primary aims for the direction of the journal and how it will thrive in a highly competitive scholarly journals landscape
Ideas for increasing high-quality submissions and topics to be solicited
Ideas for prospective members of the Editorial Board and Associate Editors
A current curriculum vitae
