Assistant Professor in Canadian History
The Department of History invites applications for a preliminary, tenure-track appointment in Canadian History (open field) at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2019.

The successful candidate will be expected to be an active contributor to the teaching, research, and administrative life of the department. Applicants must show distinct promise of a research program that will make significant contributions to the field of Canadian History, topically and methodologically. The successful candidate will have a proven record of publications commensurate with career stage.

Teaching will consist of two full-year courses or the equivalent annually, made up of a combination of lecture and seminar courses in the first to the fourth year of the B.A., graduate seminars in the M.A. programs in History and in Public History, and in the Ph.D. degree program in History. A record of good teaching at the undergraduate level is an advantage. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to pedagogical innovation, especially experiential learning. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to graduate supervision and mentoring, including professional training for non-academic and academic jobs. Finally, the successful candidate will be involved in the administrative activities of the Department, which will include the development of the graduate and undergraduate programs, and other forms of service inside and outside the unit.

Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Canadian History or a related field, an established and active research program, potential for teaching innovation and excellence, as well as strong administrative skills. The field of expertise is open.
