Gordon Plewes Award

Published on September 16, 2021

The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) annually presents the Gordon Plewes Award to “an individual who has made particularly noteworthy contributions to the study of the history of civil engineering in Canada or the history of civil engineering achievements by Canadians elsewhere.”  Recipients need not be CSCE members or engineers.  The award consists of a plaque – though we have usually been able to contribute to a recipient’s expenses to attend the CSCE Awards Gala to receive the award in person.  Past recipients have included Robert F. Leggett, Roy Minter, Robert W. Passfield, Norman R. Ball, and Siobhan Roberts.

The CSCE Plewes Award Selection Committee solicits information about recent publications on historic Canadian civil engineering achievements for consideration in our annual deliberations.  Please convey such information, ideally before October 20th, to Mike Bartlett, Chair of the Selection Committee, f.m.bartlett@uwo.ca
