In response to the experience of a member of the Black Canadian Studies Association (BCSA) at the recent meetings of Congress held at UBC, the Canadian Historical Association (CHA) would like to publicly articulate our support for our colleagues in the BCSA.  As historians, we are well aware that practices of anti-Black racism, including racial profiling and discrimination, have a long history in Canada. We are also committed to working toward greater diversity and equity in the historical profession and academic life in Canada, and look forward to working with our colleagues in other societies and institutions to creating academic spaces which are welcoming to all scholars.
