Sandrine Labelle, « « We Can’t Find a Basis for Unity but Feel We Should » : conflits et sororité autour des conférences indochinoises qui se sont tenues au Canada en 1971 ». Labour/Le Travail 93 (Printemps 2024).

Labelle provides us with a new interpretation of the role of 1971 Indochine conferences in the history of feminism. Re-theorizing the idea of sorority, she points out that all of the women involved, including “third world”, anti-imperialist and liberation feminists all used the language of sisterhood, albeit in different ways. Labelle provides a nuanced portrayal of the multiplicity of feminist activisms at work and efforts to find a common ground in opposing the Vietnam war.
